On August 7, 2025, at 12:30 PM, the Center for ASEAN Studies, International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University, held an online signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tokai University Research Institute for Environment and Sustainability (TRIES), Japan.
In this ceremony, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nisit Panthamit, Head of the Center for ASEAN Studies, signed the MoU on behalf of Chiang Mai University, while Mr. Hideka Morimoto, Director of TRIES, represented the Japanese institution. The purpose of this MoU is to promote academic cooperation and research collaboration at both regional and international levels.
The MoU outlines several areas of cooperation, including:
- Exchange of Information and Human Resources
- Joint Academic Research
- Collaborative Academic Activities
- Collective Educational Activities
- Other types of cooperation that are accepted by the Parties.
This partnership marks another significant milestone for the Center for ASEAN Studies in expanding its international academic network. In particular, the collaboration with a leading academic institution in Japan reflects the Center’s ongoing commitment to advancing knowledge in the fields of environment, sustainability, and other key issues relevant to the ASEAN community.
