Saga University Student Exchange Program – Spring 2027 | Call for Applications

The International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University, is pleased to announce the Saga University Student Exchange Program for Spring 2027, offering eligible undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to study or conduct research in Japan for one semester or one academic year.

Selected exchange students will receive a tuition fee waiver throughout the exchange period. However, participants are responsible for other expenses, including international travel, accommodation, utilities, living expenses, and other personal costs.

Program Information

Host University: Saga University, Japan
Program: Student Exchange Program – Spring 2027
Study Duration: One Semester or One Academic Year
Eligible Levels: Undergraduate and Graduate Students (depending on the selected program)
Tuition Fee: Waived
Other Expenses: Self-funded by the student
Minimum Study Requirement: At least 10 hours of classes per week (approximately 7 class periods)

Available Exchange Programs and Language Requirements

Saga University offers several exchange program options with different academic and language requirements.

Accepted English Language Scores (CEFR B2 or equivalent):

Applicants for SPACE-SAGA, SPACE-SE, SPACE-AG, and SPACE-ARITA must meet at least one of the following requirements:

• TOEFL ITP: 530 or above

• TOEFL iBT: 72 or above

• IELTS: 5.5 or above

• TOEIC: 740 or above

• CEFR: B2 or above

Important: Graduate students applying as Special Research Students must contact and obtain approval from a prospective academic supervisor at Saga University before submitting their application.

General Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at Chiang Mai University.

2. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80.

3. Have completed the required period of study at Chiang Mai University before applying:

   • SPACE-SAGA / SPACE-ECON / General Exchange Student: At least one academic year.

   • SPACE-SE / SPACE-ARITA / SPACE-AG: At least two academic years.

4. Meet the English or Japanese language proficiency requirements of the selected exchange program.

5. Maintain active student status at Chiang Mai University throughout the entire exchange period.

6. Not be awaiting graduation or scheduled to graduate during the exchange period.

7. Return to Chiang Mai University to continue their studies after completing the exchange program.

8. Be in good physical and mental health and capable of completing the exchange program.

10. Portfolio (SPACE-ARITA applicants only)

11. Consent of Acceptance (SPACE-SE / SPACE-AG applicants only)

Important Document Submission Instructions

• Applicants must combine all applicable application documents into ONE PDF file per person, except Document No. 7.

• The Application for Certificate of Eligibility (Document No. 7) must be submitted separately in Excel format.

• Program-specific documents must be included where applicable.

• All documents must be complete and prepared according to Saga University's application guidelines.

Important Information for ICDI Students

Interested ICDI students must apply through the ICDI International Relations Unit and submit their complete application documents for internal review and nomination.

Late or incomplete applications may not be considered.

Submission of an application to ICDI does not guarantee nomination or acceptance by Saga University.
